Download Docusar - Getting Started

Before you can run the Docusar Docusaurus Themes template, you need to prepare your tools and download the source code. Think of this step like preparing your workspace before starting a project - you would not start cooking without ingredients and tools, right?

This guide assumes you have never installed a developer tool before. Follow each step carefully, and you will be ready in about 15 minutes.

Step 1: Install Required Tools​

Docusar is built on Docusaurus, which runs on Node.js. You need Node.js installed on your computer before anything else.

Required:​

1. Node.js (Required)

Node.js is the engine that runs Docusaurus and installs packages. Without it, your project cannot start.

  • Download: Node.js Download →
  • Choose the LTS version (recommended) - Version 18 or 20. LTS means "Long Term Support" - it is the most stable version.
  • After download, install it like a normal app (Next → Next → Finish). You do not need to change any settings.
  • After installation, verify it works. Open Terminal or Command Prompt and run:
node -v
npm -v

If you see version numbers like v20.11.0 and 10.2.4, Node.js is installed correctly.

If the command is not found, restart your computer and try again.

2. Code Editor (Required)

You need a code editor to open and edit Docusar files.

Optional:​

Yarn (Optional - Alternative to npm)

Yarn is an alternative package manager, slightly faster than npm. You can use npm or Yarn - both work fine with Docusar.

You do not need both. If you already have npm (which comes with Node.js), you can skip Yarn.

Docusar Project Source Code​

This is the main template file you purchased or downloaded.

  • Download link: Download Docusar Project →
  • After purchase on Gumroad, you will get a ZIP file: docusa.zip or docusar.zip
  • Save it to your Desktop or Documents folder

Step 2: What Next?​

After you have installed Node.js and downloaded the Docusar ZIP:

  1. Extract the ZIP file to your Desktop
  2. You will get a folder like docusar-template/
  3. Next, you need to install dependencies and run the project locally

  • Node.js installed (node -v works)
  • VS Code installed
  • Docusar ZIP downloaded and extracted
