GitHub Account

Your Docusar project is now fully customized and running on your local device. Before you can push it online, you need a GitHub account to store your project.

What Is GitHub?​

Before we create the account, let me explain what GitHub is and why you need it.

GitHub is a website that stores code projects online. Think of it like Google Drive, but made specifically for code. You upload your project folder once, and from then on you can:

  • Back up your project - If your computer breaks, your project is safe on GitHub
  • Deploy your website - Services like Vercel and Netlify read your code directly from GitHub to publish your site
  • Track changes - Every change you make is saved with a history, so you can undo mistakes
  • Collaborate - If you work with a team, everyone can contribute to the same project

You do not need to be a programmer to use GitHub. For Docusar, you will only use it to store your project and connect it to a hosting provider.

Create a GitHub Account​

If you already have a GitHub account, you can skip this step and go directly to Create Repository.

If you do not have an account yet, follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://github.com
  2. Click Sign up in the top-right corner
  3. Fill in the sign-up form:
    • Email: Use your main email address. You will need to verify it.
    • Password: Create a strong password. Save it somewhere safe.
    • Username: This will be your GitHub profile URL, like github.com/yourusername. Choose something short and professional. Do not use spaces.
  4. Solve the verification puzzle to prove you are human
  5. Click Create account
  6. Check your email inbox for a verification code from GitHub, then enter it on the site
  7. Answer a few optional questions (you can skip them)
  8. Choose the Free plan - The free plan is more than enough for Docusar. It gives you unlimited public and private repositories.

Once the account is created, log in at https://github.com/login

You will see your GitHub dashboard. The left sidebar shows your repositories, but right now it is empty because you have not created one yet.
